THE LAKES - Luxury Glamping East Anglia

Are you looking for Luxury Glamping East Anglia? We've got you covered.

This area was once a working gravel pit, all work stopped here in 2015. Since then, the area has been restored to a beautiful wildlife haven with seventy-five acres of lakes, woodland walks and wildflower meadows.

Four traditional style shepherd's huts and two yurts can sleep 18 people. Each unit has private toileting & showering facilities and two have their own, private kitchen shelters. Sleeping accommodation is centred around the Nest - our communal safari tent set on elevated decking and overlooking the main 8 acre lake with a definite WOW factor!

The Lakes is great for couples or families wanting to get away from it all and have fun in incredible surroundings. All accommodation is spaced out to give you plenty of room to relax and unwind.

Offering a diverse natural environment, luxurious accommodation and a great choice of activities, The Lakes makes an unbeatable destination for a Glamping getaway.

We also welcome groups at The Lakes; its a fantastic place for groups of friends and family to celebrate a special occasion or simply get together. Please see our Group Glamping page for details.

Mallard and Teal Shepherd's Huts

These shepherd’s huts each sleep two in a comfortable double bed and have wood-burning stoves inside to ward off the evening chill. They are set 30m apart and both have a private shower and loo next to the hut.

Each hut has its own kitchen shelter with cooking facilities including sink, gas stove, gas fridge and Kadai fire pit making them ideal if you want to completely isolate from everybody else on site. They are kitted out with all glasses, crockery, utensils and pans you need to cook up simple camping fare. For seating, you'll have your own (sheltered) picnic bench, a bistro set and deck chairs to choose from. A true luxury Glamping Experience in East Anglia.

Alternatively, if you are coming as a larger group you can share the outdoor kitchen and communal facilities in the Nest.

Pheasant Shepherd's Hut

A cosy traditional style hut, sleeping two in a double bed and with a cosy wood-burner. This hut lies nestled against a group of trees overlooking the largest lake. It has its own private shower and loo about 20m away. Everything you need to rustle up a delicious meal can be found in one of the kitchen areas in the Nest or the shared outdoor kitchen, but there's also a fire pit in front of the hut for late night snuggles and smores. For seating around your fire, you have your own picnic bench or there's a variety of deck, camping or director chairs to choose from in The Surf Shack.  We can also provide a small camping gas stove and cool box for an early morning cup of tea should you require - just ask!

Pheasant hut lies to one side of the site and if booked in conjunction with Barn Owl hut and Kingfisher yurt would make a good area for a small group.

Barn Owl Shepherd's Hut ("Bunky")

This hut sleeps four in one double and two single bunks. It is situated at one end of our site, in a little clearing with stunning views of the lake. It has its own private shower and loo close by. Like all our huts there's a wood burning stove, fire pit and picnic bench, plus there's a variety of deck, director or camping chairs in The Surf Shack for your use. Cooking facilities are in the Nest and outdoor kitchen, but we can provide a small camping gas stove and cool box for an early morning cup of tea should you require - just ask!

Kingfisher and Skylark Yurts

Kingfisher and Skylark are two yurts set up on decking with beds to sleep 4 people. Each yurt is fully furnished and contains a double bed and 2 chair-beds, which can be made up if required or used as chairs. There is room for a 5th person if they bring their own (small) camp bed and bedding.

Both yurts have their own loos and shower shack next door (Skylark) or a short walk away (Kingfisher), plus a cosy wood burning stove to keep off any evening chill. They use the cooking facilities in the Nest and communal kitchen, but each have their own fire pit and outdoor seating. The yurts are lit with a mixture of fairy lights, battery lanterns and outdoor solar lanterns... we even provide a portable torch for any night-time trips to the loo!

Skylark is situated between Teal and the Nest; Kingfisher sits slightly apart on one side of the site, closest to the Lake.

Extra Bell Tents

During summer months, we have 3 furnished bell tents, which can be booked in conjunction with one of our huts or yurts. These are useful to give a little more space and flexibility in sleeping arrangements (such as for a large family or small group). Each bell tent can sleep up to 4 people with a double bed and 2 single chair-beds.

Guests in your booked bell tent will share your kitchen and bathroom facilities. Although bedding will be provided, they may wish to bring extra blankets as our bell tents don't have any heating.

Jay (bell tent 1) is situated between Teal and Skylark.

Woodpecker (bell tent 2) is near Barn Owl.

Heron (bell tent 3) is between Barn Owl and Kingfisher.

The Nest (Communal Safari Tent)

We think the communal safari tent is what makes our site so special. Set in an elevated position it commands a fantastic view of the lake and whole site. The covered porch has plenty of deckchairs and bean bags on which to relax.

Inside you will find comfy leather sofas, a pellet burning stove to ward off any evening chill, throws to snuggle under and board games galore.

There are 3 dining tables with chairs in the middle of the Nest, whilst at the back with easy access to the outdoor cooking shelter lie two kitchen areas. These are extremely well equipped (including two shared fridge freezers, two double-ring gas hobs, cookware, utensils and dinnerware) and will enable you to prepare meals with most of the comforts of your own kitchen at home.

Outdoor Kitchen

Embrace your inner wild cook! A covered area houses a wood fired pizza oven and two large fire bowls that serve as versatile BBQs. If you're feeling adventurous cook over wood, if not you can purchase charcoal on site. A gas plancha is also provided for speedier cooking, ideal for a large fry up at breakfast time.

There's also a large sink and a food prep table, ideal for rolling out pizzas.

Hot Tub

Following the COVID19 pandemic and until further notice, use of the hot tub will be restricted to one hut/yurt (or group, if booking with friends per day). This is to allow the hot tub to be sanitised and re-filled between users.  This must be booked in advance at £30 a day and includes a bin of firewood.
