THE LAKES - Luxury Glamping East Anglia

This area was once a working gravel pit, all work stopped here in 2015. Since then we have restored the area to nature and created a beautiful wildlife haven with seventy-five acres of lakes, woodland walks and wildflower meadows.

Four traditional style shepherd's huts and two yurts can sleep 18-22 people. Each unit has private facilities and two have their own kitchens. Sleeping accommodation is centred around the Nest - our communal safari tent set on elevated decking overlooking the main 8 acre lake with a definite wow factor!

The Lakes is great for couples or families wanting to get away from it all but can also be rented exclusively as a fantastic place for groups of friends and family to celebrate a special occasion, to relax and have fun in incredible surroundings. All accommodation is spaced out to give you plenty of room to relax and unwind.

Offering a diverse natural environment, luxurious accommodation and a great choice of activities, The Lakes makes an unbeatable destination for a Glamping getaway.

Mallard and Teal Shepherd's Huts

These shepherd’s huts each sleep two in a comfortable double bed and have wood burning stoves inside to ward off the evening chill. They are set 30m apart and both have a private shower and flushing(Mallard) and waterless(Teal) loo next to the hut.

Each hut has its own kitchen shelter with cooking facilities including sink, gas stove and Kadai fire pit making them ideal if you want to completely isolate from everybody else on site.

Alternatively, if you are coming as a larger group you can share the outdoor kitchen and communal facilities in the Nest.

The huts are kitted out with all glasses, crockery, utensils and pans you need to cook up simple camping fare.

Pheasant Shepherd's Hut

A cosy traditional style hut, sleeping two in a double bed. This hut lies nestled against a group of trees overlooking the largest lake. It has its own private shower and waterless loo about 20m away. There's a small camping stove, cool box and fire pit for essentials such as late-night hot chocolate and toasting s'mores. Everything else you need to rustle up a delicious meal can be found in one of the kitchen areas in the Nest

Pheasant hut lies to one side of the site and if booked in conjunction with Barn Owl hut and Kingfisher yurt would make a good area for a larger group.

Barn Owl Shepherd's Hut ("Bunky")

This hut sleeps four in one double and two single bunks. It is situated at one end of our site, in a little clearing of its own with stunning views of the lake. It has its own private shower and waterless loo close by. Like all our huts there's a wood burning stove, deck chairs and picnic bench outside along with a fire pit. Cooking facilities are in the Nest but we provide a small camping gas stove and cool box for an early morning cup of tea.

Kingfisher and Skylark Yurts

Kingfisher and Skylark are two yurts, set up on decking and able to accommodate up to 4 adults or a family of 6. One double bed and four full size “Disc-O-Bed” camp beds, which can be arranged into bunks for children.

Both yurts have their own private flushing(Kingfisher) and waterless(SKylark) loos and shower (Kingfisher uses Aquarius) plus a cosy wood burning stove to keep off any evening chill. They use the cooking facilities in the Nest and communal kitchen, but each have their own fire pit, gas stove, cool box and outdoor seating.

Skylark is situated between Teal and the Nest; Kingfisher sits slightly apart on one side of the site.

Extra Bell Tents

We are able to provide bell tents that sleep up to five children or four adults  and can be booked in addition to a two or four-person shepherd’s hut. They will be kitted out with double or single air beds, you will need to bring your own sleeping bags and pillows.

The cost is £50 per night. If you book a bell tent, this will be erected close to your shepherd's hut or yurt and will share your kitchen and bathroom facilities.

The Nest (Communal Safari Tent)

We think the communal safari tent is what makes our site so special. Set in an elevated position it commands a fantastic view of the lake and whole site. The covered porch has plenty of deckchairs and bean bags on which to relax.
Inside you will find comfy leather sofas, a pellet burning stove to ward off any evening chill, throws to snuggle under and board games galore.

Dining tables with seating for twenty-two are in the middle whilst at the back with easy access to the outdoor cooking shelter lie two kitchen areas. These are extremely well equipped and will enable you to prepare meals with most of the comforts of your own kitchen at home.

Outdoor Kitchen

Embrace your wild cook! A covered area houses a wood fired pizza oven and two large fire bowls that serve as versatile BBQs. If you're feeling adventurous cook over wood, if not feel free to bring your own charcoal. A gas plancha is provided for speedier cooking, ideal for a large fry up at breakfast time.

There's also a large sink and a food prep table, ideal for rolling out pizzas.
