Manor Farm at Shropham is a 700-acre estate on the edge of Breckland, managed by Oxygen Conservation. The land is in active recovery from decades of intensive agriculture — habitats restored, watercourses reconnected, wildlife returning.
Over 1,600 species have been recorded on the estate. The River Thet is being restored to its historic floodplain. More than 1,000 Biodiversity Net Gain units will be delivered across 600 acres over time.
When you step out of your shepherd’s hut in the morning, you’re not stepping into a managed backdrop. You’re stepping into something genuinely rare.
What It Feels Like to Stay Here
Mornings at Honeypot Meadow tend to start earlier than planned. The birdsong sees to that. The lake in front of the huts holds the early light in a way that’s hard to leave. The wildflower meadows — the ones that give Honeypot its name, and Orchid and Cowslip theirs — are part of the estate’s ecological fabric, not ornament.
Evenings are spent in front of the fire pit, in the wood-fired hot tub, and a with the Breckland sky doing what Breckland skies do. This is one of the least light-polluted parts of England. The stars come out properly.
